Bodybuilding: Busting Through A Plateau
Bodybuilding is a great way to increase your strength and muscle mass. However, after you have been working out and lifting for a while, you might find that you have hit a plateau. The workouts that used to be so effective simply are not producing the same results. What can you do when you have hit a plateau?
When your workouts are no longer producing great results, it is a sign that you need to step up your game. In many cases, changing up your workouts will help. This does not mean you need to change everything you are doing. But, you should make at least a few changes. Perhaps you are having a hard time properly executing some of your routines. If this is the case, it can be helpful to swap out these routines for something that will work the same muscle groups, but in a different and more effective way.
A sudden lack in progress might also mean that you are not giving your muscles enough recovery time between workouts. It might feel like you are slacking off, but your muscles really need a chance to repair and recover, if you expect them to grow. Taking a week off every couple of months is one way to move past a phase where you are not making much progress.
Finally, a good diet is important if you want to build muscle. As your muscles increase in size and strength, your body will naturally require more calories. If you are consuming the same number of calories that you did when you first started, this could be the reason for the plateau. Try adding some extra calories, as well as a good supplement, and bust through that plateau.
